In White Hat, Black Cat, mystery, elegance and attitude come together in a quietly cinematic portrait. A solitary figure reclines beneath the striking brim of a white hat, dressed almost entirely in black, while a watchful black cat nestles confidently at her side.

The obscured face gives the work its intrigue, identity becomes secondary to presence. Deep charcoal and inky black are layered against muted olive and slate, while warm glimpses of skin and the luminous white hat draw the eye through the composition. And then there is the cat: green-eyed, self-possessed and perhaps the only character willing to look directly back at us.
