Original Medium: Acrylic and textural medium on round canvas
In Black Round, black becomes more than a colour, it becomes depth, shadow and infinite space. Subtle hand-worked marks move rhythmically across the circular surface, appearing and disappearing as light shifts over the piece.
At first glance, the work is strikingly minimal. Look closer and an entire landscape of texture begins to emerge, repeated incisions, changes in surface and barely visible forms suspended within the darkness. Like its namesake, much of Dark Matter exists not in what is immediately seen, but in what is sensed beneath the surface.
Created for the ABA Spring 2026 Collection, Black Round is mysterious, sculptural and uncompromising, a quietly commanding piece that changes with its environment.
